APT is pleased to announce that the General Services Administration has extended our Professional Engineering Services (PES) contract for an additional 5 years (April 5, 2011 – April 5, 2016) with a 5 year renewal option thereafter. This extension is expected to provide APT with a readily available contracting mechanism until 2021.

On May 17 & 18, the APT Safety Engineering and Analysis Center (SEAC) hosted an international workshop to examine safety policies, approaches, and analytical methods used to minimize risk to the public from space launches. The workshop was held in conjunction with the 4th International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) Conference, which was held May 19-21 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, AL. Attending the workshop were leading launch safety analysts from the European Space Agency (ESA), the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the US Department of Defense (DoD), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Space Transportation. The workshop identified many areas of common methodology and similar levels of safety metrics. Planning for the next workshop began.
Congratulations to Tom Webber! He has been selected by ASMDA to receive a 2009 Space and Missile Defense Technical Achievement Award – Contractor. Each year, ASMDA recognizes exceptional achievements accomplished by Government and contractor personnel working directly on space and missile defense activities in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense Joint Program Office (GMD JPO), Defense Intelligence Agency/Missiles and Space Intelligence Center (DIA/MISC), Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA, and the PEO Missiles and Space (PEO-MS). Recipients of these awards have demonstrated exemplary dedication, professionalism, and significantly contributed to the development, test, and deployment of space and missile defense systems.
MISSILE DEFENSE AGENCY CALLS ON SMALL BUSINESSES FOR ADVISORY AND ASSISTANCE SERVICES WORK, Defense News, Jan 25, 2010. Three small businesses, including APT Research of Huntsville, AL, have been awarded advisory and assistance services contracts from the Missile Defense Agency. The APT contract has a ceiling of $209 million to assist the Missile Defense Agency’s Quality, Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate, according to a Jan. 21 Defense Department statement. The contracts were competitively awarded under a small business set-aside request for proposal.
Congratulations to Brad Monk for winning a Silver Addy in the Tennessee Valley Advertising Federation Addy Awards for the design of the APT MiDAESS QSMA Team logo. The award was announced January 22, 2010 and presented at the Addy Awards Dinner held on February 27, 2010.
