APT is proud to announce placement on the Inc. 5000 List again. The list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. This is the fifth time APT has made the Inc. 5000 List in the last six years and therefore has achieved the additional distinction of being added to the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll. The 2013 Inc. 5000 List measured revenue growth from 2009 through 2012.
APT is proud to have been a sponsor/exhibitor at the 31st International System Safety Conference, August 12-16, 2013. APT was represented by APT President, Tom Pfitzer; APT Vice President and System Safety Society Director of Publicity and Media, Saralyn Dwyer; and APT employees and Society Members, Melissa Emery and Tim Browning. Each year, the conference is hosted by one of the many chapters of the System Safety Society. This year’s conference was hosted in Boston, MA, with a theme of “Safety for the Long Run.” The conference serves as a symposium for safety practitioners to share ideas, present papers, attend tutorials and workshops, and also to socialize with fellow practitioners and enjoy the attractions of the host city. We look forward to future support and attendance of the International System Safety Conference in the coming years.
We are happy to announce APT’s partnership with Operation Green Team’s Adopt-a-Mile program. Our adopted mile runs along Research Drive from the Wynn Drive intersection to the Old Monrovia Road intersection. Our first clean-up day was Thursday, July 25th. Many thanks to all the APT employees and families who volunteered their time to help! We are excited to help keep Huntsville a great place to live and work.
APT received a perfect score on our fifth consecutive year to receive the Beautification Award! These awards are sponsored by the Beautification Board of Huntsville, Alabama in partnership with the City of Huntsville’s Operation Green Team. This organization has been devoted to keeping and establishing Huntsville and Alabama as an environmental and landscaping example for over 35 years. Each year, properties are judged on first impression, originality, distinction, design, selection and quality of plants (trees, shrubs, flowers, grass, ground cover), hardscape design, maintenance, and litter control. Winners are honored at an Awards Ceremony and receive a Beautification Award sign to display on their property. APT is proud and feels privileged to be honored as a recipient of this award. APT’s award is unique in that the designing, planning, planting, and weeding were all accomplished by APT employees who volunteered their time. APT appreciates everyone who participated to make this effort a complete success!
NASA Johnson Space Center announced the selection of the SAIC Team for the Safety And Mission Assurance Engineering Contract (SMAEC) on June 13. A-P-T Research, Inc. is pleased to be a subcontractor on the winning team, building on our relationships with both SAIC and NASA. Space Coast Division Manager, Jimmy Rudolph, will lead the Phase-In team for APT during August and September. The new contract starts in October and is for a maximum of five years and $202 million. SAIC was the incumbent on the present JSC S-MASS contract and is a subcontractor to APT on KSC S-MASS II contract.
On May 21, 2013, Mr. Tom Pfitzer, APT President, presented a keynote address at the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) Conference. Mr. Pfitzer dedicated his keynote address to Mr. Pat Clemens, his friend and professional colleague who passed away on May 11th. The title of the address was, “What would Pascal think about Space Safety?”
Over 450 years ago, Blaise Pascal, the father of modern risk assessment, wrote extensively on the preferred methods, techniques, and approaches to assess risks. The keynote address explored how these concepts and precepts apply today. The research supporting the paper was conducted by Mr. Pat Clemens and other APT employees. A complete version of the speech with associated sides can be found here (“What would Pascal think about Space Safety”).
The keynote address was one of several topics presented at the 6th Conference of the IAASS. This year, the conference was held in Montreal, Canada hosted by McGill University. For more information, see the IAASS web site and Space Safety Magazine.
We are excited to have completed and delivered our proposal for the AMCOM EXPRESS contract. Our team is an excellent mix of diverse, very capable, large and small companies that bring significant depth and breadth in all SOW areas that we feel exceed AMCOM’s requirements. As such, we are very optimistic and hopeful of winning an award under either Full & Open or the Small Business set-aside. Thank you to everyone one who contributed to this effort!
APT is proud to have been an exhibitor at the 2013 Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Pathfinder Conference in Huntsville, AL, March 13 & 14. APT was represented by Rhonda Barnes, Jason Rupert, Jeff Richards, and Shawn Boykin.
APT is pleased to announce its intent to submit a proposal as a Prime Contractor for the AMCOM EXPRESS Re-greening Technical Domain in support of AMCOM, PEO Aviation, AMRDEC and Redstone Proper. APT welcomes the addition of teammates and subcontractors.
Over the length of the AMCOM EXPRESS contract, APT has provided AMCOM support through team member and subcontractor roles. This footprint is larger than any other small business with specialty in QS&MA. This has led to our decision to offer our services as a Prime Contractor on the AMCOM EXPRESS Re-greening Technical Domain contract. We will be submitting as a Small Business.
As a historical note of perspective, APT bid on this effort in 2008 and finished eighth out of seven winners. Since that time, APT has doubled in size, built successful teams with the nation’s leading defense suppliers, and prepared winning proposals for MDA, SMDC, and NASA. This leaves us with good confidence that we have an excellent chance in this competition.
