AMCOM EXPRESS

We are excited to have completed and delivered our proposal for  the AMCOM EXPRESS contract.  Our team is an excellent mix of diverse, very capable, large and small companies that bring significant depth and breadth in all SOW areas that we feel exceed AMCOM’s requirements.  As such, we are very optimistic and hopeful of winning an award under either Full & Open or the Small Business set-aside.  Thank you to everyone one who contributed to this effort!

APT to Bid on AMCOM EXPRESS Contract

APT is pleased to announce its intent to submit a proposal as a Prime Contractor for the AMCOM EXPRESS Re-greening Technical Domain in support of AMCOM, PEO Aviation, AMRDEC and Redstone Proper. APT welcomes the addition of teammates and subcontractors.

Over the length of the AMCOM EXPRESS contract, APT has provided AMCOM support through team member and subcontractor roles. This footprint is larger than any other small business with specialty in QS&MA. This has led to our decision to offer our services as a Prime Contractor on the AMCOM EXPRESS Re-greening Technical Domain contract. We will be submitting as a Small Business.

As a historical note of perspective, APT bid on this effort in 2008 and finished eighth out of seven winners. Since that time, APT has doubled in size, built successful teams with the nation’s leading defense suppliers, and prepared winning proposals for MDA, SMDC, and NASA.  This leaves us with good confidence that we have an excellent chance in this competition.

APT is an employee-owned small business based in Huntsville, Alabama. APT provides a full spectrum of engineering services with specific expertise in independent analyses and recommendations in systems engineering, quantitative risk assessment, test planning, range safety, system safety, software system safety, explosives safety, industrial and quality engineering, reliability, software development and modeling, and training.

DOT Hazard Classification Services

APT is proud to announce that the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) has designated APT as an approved examining agency. This means that APT is authorized to provide Competent Authority Approval services for explosives. With this designation, APT becomes only the sixth company in the United States authorized by DOT to evaluate, examine, and test explosive substances and articles to determine their hazard classification for shipment.

As part of this approval and in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, six APT employees were certified by DOT as authorized expert examiners and APT was approved to perform testing at various locations throughout the country. The testing can be performed at any of APT’s partner test sites, including Redstone Test Center (RTC) in Huntsville. APT anticipates that this new approval will bring a significant amount of new work to the Huntsville area. APT’s other partner test sites are the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (VA), Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (MD), Eglin Air Force Base (FL), and National Technical Systems Camden (AR).

W. Pete Yutmeyer, APT’s Chief Operations Officer, was quoted as saying, “This is an exciting day for APT. Our personnel are among the most knowledgeable and experienced in the country in the area of explosive safety and we are eager to put our expertise to work for DOT.”

NASA Awards Contract for Kennedy Space Center Safety and Mission Support Services to A-P-T Research, Inc.

NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) announced on Wednesday that APT has been awarded a $36M contract for Safety and Mission Assurance Services (S-MASS II).

The APT S-MASS II Team will provide mission assurance, engineering, and risk assessment in the disciplines of safety, reliability, and quality within KSC and all KSC sites. “APT is a company that has grown steadily throughout our 22 year history, and we are excited to be in a position to prime a contract of this size.  Safety and Mission Assurance are core disciplines of our company, and the work we will be performing for NASA is a perfect fit for KSC’s launch operations,” said Tom Pfitzer, APT Corporate President. APT will prime the contract and work with teammates ManTech International Corp., SAIC, GP Strategies Corp., Davis Strategic Innovations, Inc. (DSI), and Cummings Aerospace to deliver high quality support to NASA’s operations.  The work will support Development and Operations activities for NASA programs and projects at KSC.  The four year, $36M contract will be one of APT’s largest contracts.

“We’re thrilled; this contract will increase the growth of our company,” said Meredith Hardwick, APT’s Vice President of Contracts and Accounting.  To perform the contract work, APT is creating a new Space Coast division led by Jimmy Rudolph, Vice President, which will be based in Cocoa Beach, FL. In light of Government cutbacks and the entry of the private sector in the field of space exploration, the launch facilities at the KSC hold exceptional appeal for future space launches.  The possibilities for expansion and growth offer significant opportunities for APT to provide safety and quality for this growing customer base.
