APT is committed to a corporate culture of helping those in need. Every year, employees nominate non-profit organizations in their communities to receive financial support from funds donated by our employee-owners. This fund is managed by a volunteer committee, which also organizes group volunteer activities and collection drives throughout the year.

“The APT Research, Inc., Corporate Giving Fund Charter endeavors to constructively influence its employee-owners’ local communities by providing financial support to non-profit organizations, through facilitation of a generous corporate culture committed to helping those in need.”
Background
In 2014, APT began partnering with the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville to establish a fund to “give back” to our local communities. The Community Foundation handles all of the administrative details and issues grants to the charities APT selects. Over the past few years, our funds have helped rebuild an inner city neighborhood, enabled high school students to visit colleges, and supported local rescue missions. Occasionally, we disperse funds in times of emergency situations (ex., tornado, hurricane, etc.).
In addition to giving funds, we also donate our time to improve our communities. APT sponsors the Adopt-A-Mile project by picking up trash on the mile around our HQ building (Research and Corporate Drive). APT volunteers have also read to elementary school children, participated in Bike MS events, and picked vegetables at the CASA garden.
Giving Tuesday
APT was one of 10 companies featured at the Community Foundation’s Giving Tuesday Press Event to celebrate local philanthropy. The collective grants –including APT’s $20K grant to the Boys & Girls Club STEM lab – totaled over $250K to local organizations.
Boys & Girls Club STEM lab gets $20,000 boost from APT Research

Science and technology education for Boys & Girls Club members recently got a boost from employees of a Huntsville business.
APT Research’s employees selected Boys & Girls Club of North Alabama as the recipient of a $20,000 grant from its giving fund. The money will go to launch a STEM lab at the club’s Calvary Teen Center.
A check was recently presented to B&G Club representatives at APT’s annual Thanksgiving luncheon for employees. The STEM lab, designed to increase access to science, technology, engineering and math topics and tools, is expected to open next year.
The APT fund comes from money donated by company employees. APT is a 100 percent employee-owned small business based in Cummings Research Park in Huntsville.
APT SMASS supports Downs Syndrome Buddy Walk
APT SMASS provided a corporate sponsorship for the 2019 Down Syndrome Association of Brevard Buddy Walk and donated $500. Judy Lindholm participated in the walk on Saturday, November 2 (You might recognize former SMASS PM Jimmy Rudolph in the photo). APT Research was inked on the back of Buddy Walk t-shirts. SMASS United Way 2019 Campaign
During the month of October, KSC SMASS Employees participated in the 2019 United Way fundraising campaign. The SMASS effort was led by SMASS Co-chairs Brittany McLeod and Cara Norwood. Big shout out – Thank you for their leadership and effort organizing the outreach and activities. Congrats to the SMASS team for raising over $6508. SMASS has achieved UW Silver Status for supporting United Way for eight consecutive years .
Boys & Girls Club STEM Lab
Many thanks to those who participated in a leadership team project to help paint the Boys & Girls Club future STEM lab. It’s been rewarding to see this wonderful resource slowly taking shape, thanks to everyone’s generous donations of time and money.
United Way Book Drive
SMASS Employees collected over 300 books to support the United Way Book Drive for Brevard County Little Free Libraries. These Little Free Libraries have become so popular since being implemented that the United Way is having a hard time keeping them full.
APT-Florida 2018 Giving Fund Donation
APT-Florida’s 2018 Giving Fund went to Brevard County Schools Supply Zone for Teachers. The Supply Zone for Teachers is a nonprofit resource center that provides free supplies for teachers to use in high-poverty classrooms in Brevard County, Florida. Established in 2014, the Supply Zone has already served more than 100,000 students by distributing over $3 million in supplies. SMASS employees participating in the giving fund contributed $1500. Thank you to everyone who participated!
APT Research Community Giving Recipients 2018
Throughout each year, APT employee-owners contribute to the APT Giving Fund, then select local nonprofit organizations to receive funds collected during the year. This year, APT awarded two $5,000 grants to Lincoln Village Ministries and the Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama. Lincoln Village Ministries takes a Christian, holistic approach to helping families in this neighborhood in all areas of life, including affordable housing, education, life skills, and childcare. The Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama is part of a nationwide organization that is working to help young people of all backgrounds develop the qualities they need to become responsible citizens and leaders. It serves more than 5,000 youth with programs that actively enrich their lives. The generosity of our employee-owners is greatly appreciated!
