APT is committed to a corporate culture of helping those in need. Every year, employees nominate non-profit organizations in their communities to receive financial support from funds donated by our employee-owners. This fund is managed by a volunteer committee, which also organizes group volunteer activities and collection drives throughout the year.
Corporate Giving Fund Mission Statement
“The APT Research, Inc., Corporate Giving Fund Charter endeavors to constructively influence its employee-owners’ local communities by providing financial support to non-profit organizations, through facilitation of a generous corporate culture committed to helping those in need.”
In 2014, APT began partnering with the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville to establish a fund to “give back” to our local communities. The Community Foundation handles all of the administrative details and issues grants to the charities APT selects. Over the past few years, our funds have helped rebuild an inner city neighborhood, enabled high school students to visit colleges, and supported local rescue missions. Occasionally, we disperse funds in times of emergency situations (ex., tornado, hurricane, etc.).
In addition to giving funds, we also donate our time to improve our communities. APT sponsors the Adopt-A-Mile project by picking up trash on the mile around our HQ building (Research and Corporate Drive). APT volunteers have also read to elementary school children, participated in Bike MS events, and picked vegetables at the CASA garden.
APT-Florida’s 2018 Giving Fund went to Brevard County Schools Supply Zone for Teachers. The Supply Zone for Teachers is a nonprofit resource center that provides free supplies for teachers to use in high-poverty classrooms in Brevard County, Florida. Established in 2014, the Supply Zone has already served more than 100,000 students by distributing over $3 million in supplies. SMASS employees participating in the giving fund contributed $1500. Throughout each year, APT employee-owners contribute to the APT Giving Fund, then select local nonprofit organizations to receive funds collected during the year. This year, APT awarded two $5,000 grants to Lincoln Village Ministries and the Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama. Lincoln Village Ministries takes a Christian, holistic approach to helping families in this neighborhood in all areas of life, including affordable housing, education, life skills, and childcare. The Boys and Girls Club of North Alabama is part of a nationwide organization that is working to help young people of all backgrounds develop the qualities they need to become responsible citizens and leaders. It serves more than 5,000 youth with programs that actively enrich their lives. The generosity of our employee-owners is greatly appreciated!
APT has been supporting the Huntsville Green Team’s Adopt-A-Mile program since 2013. Thanks to all the employees who came out to support our recent effort to keep Huntsville a beautiful place to live and work.
APT sponsored and attended the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County’s 2015 Summit on Philanthropy – Building a Better Community. APT congratulates this year’s Community Philanthropy Award recipients and thanks the Community Foundation for all they do for Huntsville and Madison County.
Officers at APT gathered Monday, December 15, with members of the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County to celebrate the launch of the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) transaction.
The event at APT’s headquarters in Huntsville also recognized the company’s new Corporate Giving Fund to support local charities and the donation of more than $680,000 to the Foundation. The ESOP transaction, giving fund, and donation marked a new milestone for APT, which was incorporated in 1990 and is now 100-percent employee owned.
